Holiday Hunger Relief Efforts

Food, Friends, & Family

Here at Mountain Roots, we are dedicated to ensuring that everyone in our community has access to nutritious, wholesome food—not only to nourish their bodies but also to share in the spirit of the season.

This year, our “Food, Friends, and Family” campaign focuses on something close to our hearts: nourishing farm-fresh food boxes filled with locally sourced ingredients. Every week, our Food Security team and dedicated volunteers pack and distribute boxes of fresh food to 150 households. But as the holidays draw near, the need grows even greater.

You can make an extraordinary impact by providing healthy food for families in need.

With your support, we can provide 400 boxes of fresh food to families facing food insecurity this Thanksgiving and Christmas, and help to address food insecurity all year round.

  • $50 provides a neighbor in need with a farm-fresh holiday food box

  • $250 feeds the same household for an entire month

  • $1,000 provides nourishing food boxes for 20 families this holiday season

  • $2,500 will provide a weekly food box for a family all year long.

Along with donating, you can also support our holiday hunger relief efforts by donating your time to help us pack and deliver holiday boxes

WHAT WE DO

Regenerative Farming

Regenerating the land, building soil, training young farmers, and providing food for our community. In addition to 2 in-ground farms, this includes 4 container farms that operate all year long, expanding our growing season significantly.

Farm to School

We teach youth about environmental science, nutrition & healthy eating, growing food, cooking, and more. This deepends their connection to earth, food, and community and builds a foundation for a healthy future.

Food Security

Developing individuals’ self-sufficiency and providing nutritious produce across the Gunnison valley and western Colorado. From free boxes of produce to creating community in our gardens, food security reaches many aspects of our valley.

HEALTHY FUTURES

We build bridges from college to career for young adults seeking to gain experience in agriculture, youth education, community food security, and the environment.
