Americorps positions

YOUR BRIDGE FROM COLLEGE TO CAREER

As a bridge from college to career, we offer immersive experiences in environmental education, food security, and sustainable agriculture. Our positions combining rigorous, hands-on training, classroom learning, and in-the-field experience. You’ll receive both formal and informal training, participate in peer-to-peer learning, and over time you’ll gain more responsibility and be expected to grow in your independence. We use an AmeriCorps structure to provide apprentices with a basic living allowance and a substantial education award upon completion.

 

Farm to School Educator

Within a Colorado mountain community Farm to School program, you will teach hands-on lessons in environmental science, food & nutrition, outdoor experience summer camps, and after-school garden and cooking programs to K-12 students.

Food Security Coordinator

The position will coordinate collaborative and equitable food access programs such as, food rescue, cooking classes, community gardens, Spanish language food assistance distributions, and senior outreach in a rural Colorado mountain community. The member joins a small but passionate team and serves to combat rural food deserts, food insecurity and obesity by developing new and strengthening existing programs for children and adults that increase access to and use of food assistance services promoting healthy eating, economic development, and environmental stewardship.

Food Security Fellowship

This is a two-year award that provides an opportunity for an outstanding graduate student to engage in the research, project design and management, operations, and innovation for the Mountain Roots Resilient Food System initiatives with a focus on regenerative agriculture and community food security. The Fellowship is also a launch point into for-profit, non-profit, and research-based regenerative agriculture, education, and food security and a deeper understanding of the critical role these play in a resilient food system.
