Backyard Harvest
This food rescue and donation program connects fresh produce from backyard gardens and farms to residents experiencing food insecurity. Food-insecure households can sign up to receive a free box of fresh food every week that is delivered right to their door. Our fresh produce is sourced from backyard gardeners, community gardens, chicken coops, our farms, local farmers, and community donations. This program runs all year long.
Did you know?
Since 2018, the Crested Butte Farmers Market has partnered with the Backyard Harvest Program.
The Crested Butte Farmers Market is a proud partner of Mountain Roots to bring wholesome, nutritious food to those in need!
At the end of each market day, the CB Farmers Market donates organic and naturally grown produce, pasture-raised and grass-fed meats and eggs, nutritious breads, as well as other whole foods, supplied by our amazing regional vendors. These foods are gathered every Sunday and delivered to families in need all over the Valley and distributed via the Backyard Harvest program.
